Frying or Baking for too long time & high temperature...can kills???

>> Acrylamide derived from asparagine (amino acid) in the presence of sugar.

>> Carbonyl or C=O (glucose) facilitates reaction (Maillard-type =browning effect).

>> High asparagine + sugar + temperature = high acrylamide.

>> Acrylamide can turns into Glycidamide, which is the actual CARCINOGENIC COMPOUND.

Some facts about Acrylamide:
Acrylamide is known to form adducts to DNA, potentially leading to DNA mutation.
Top 10 Foods for Acrylamide content:
Source: Environ Health Perspect. 2010 April; 118(4): A160–A167.

>> There are some methods to minimize Acrylamide production:

  Do not over-cook high carbohydrate foods.
  Avoid foods high in asparagine and sugar.
  Decrease asparagine levels in foods via genetic manipulation.
  Hydrolyze asparagine with acid or amidases.
  Acetylate asparagine to prevent formation of glycoside intermediates with sugar.
  Research conditions that limit acrylamideformation.
  When frying potatoes, use varieties that are low in sugar.
  Fry foods in the range of 145-170ºC
  Cook french fires to a golden yellow rather than a golden brown color.
  Toast bread to the lightest color acceptable.
  Soak raw potato slices in water for 15-30 minutes before frying or roasting.
  Do not store raw potatoes in the refrigerator (the chilly environment of the fridge helps to convert the potato’s starch to sugar).

Life In Genting 2

View captured on my way to canteen for lunch ^^
Another weeks for working life in Genting =)
These working periods have allowed me to know more about Adidas. Do you know that there are three logos of Adidas? haha~~ Well...I just knew...
(1967) The first Adidas logo. Used on Style line.

(1972) The second Adidas logo. Used on Originals line.

(1994) The current Adidas logo. Used on Performance line

http://logos.wikia.com/wiki/Adidas )

Well, customers form China like the Original logo's product the most. Some of them do not even want to buy that particular product that they have been choosing for long time after knew that it is not of the Original Logo. Haha~~~

Again, I met lots of funny customers & interesting incidents there....=P
Once, got two guy's customers walked in, one guy with a bit 'soft' style was looking around. He keep looking at girl's clothes. I told him that it is for women then they laugh: 'eh, untuk perempuan punya la!!'
He came to a pink color hand bag, holding it and posing infront of mirror. He ask his friend's comment about it but his friend said it is not suitable for him. Then he turned to me and asked: 'cantik tak saya pakai beg ini? cantik tak??....' I was like: '........==' ( Feel like saying, not match you at all...but i can't as he is my customer....@@.)

Some customers even asked me to try clothes for them as they wanted to buy some clothes for someone that currently not there. haha...Me as a promoter & as a ''clothes tester'' @@
Many of the customers, especially foreigner will ask me:' What size do u think suitable for me/i can wear?', by showing on their feet or body. That time, i have to act 'professional' and estimate the size for them~~~ hahaha~~~

Here are some nice foods that i have tried over there ... =)

Curry & Tomyam, some where in 1st floor of First World building...

Roti Nan Garlic..hmmm~~ healthy but i hate garlic XD

From left: Roti Cheese & Roti Boom...i love them very much !!! Nice~

Curry Mee & Prawn Mee ( Har Mee) at 3rd Floor of First World building...
Very nice yet economic price as compared to other foods in Genting =)

This one, Spinach Noodle & Shui Kao Noodle in 'Hou Yao Restaurant'

Life In Genting 1

Got a jod as promoter at Adidas, not much salary, but i accepted it as i wish to gain more 'different' and new' experiences in this ''long'' holiday...haha =D

Well, the weather there is colder than what i expect it to be @@ as it rains for whole days ~~~

Every morning, walking in this cold environment to work. Thick fog surrounded me, i can't even see the Genting buildings around

A view outside my hostel, taken when the weather is good.

Another window's view from my hostel

Super nice pan mee over there!!!! it is the nicest pan mee i ever ate !!!!!
I did gain lots experiences during my 4 days work. I met many customers from different races and countries.

Some customers really hard to deal with. They purposely ask u lots of question that normally we, as a promoter will never know unless we got do special studies in Adidas's products....& even Physics concepts @@ I do can explain to them in physics concept like those ventilation, impact force, shock absorber of shoe....but, can they understand??? haha~~~

I met mostly customer from China. Seems like, China ppl really like Adidas....Many of them will thought that I'm from China as well as i speak like them @@ (because i tends to follow how ppl speak when i speak to them)
haha~~~ very funny ~~~

Some customers are really rich. They will buy any thing that their children requested. One of the customer, wish to buy one jersey for her son. She asked her son whether he wants the jersey, he just nodded his head without even looking at that jersey as he was playing with his phone's games @@ I wonder he will like it and will wear it after buy.

Another customer even told me that her son has lots Adidas & Nicky shoes and each shoes, after wearing for few times, he doesn't want to wear it anymore !! @@ I was like, 'emmm...ok' (She sure 'spoiled' her son already as she use to 'treat' him in that way) I wonder how the son will be when growing up....hmmm....

Sesame Seed

Found that, sesame seed is indeed a nice food !!!
it is high in iron, calcium, magnesium, copper..and....lots more =)

Lets see what is its' other functions...

Sesame seeds contain two unique substances:
sesamin and sesamolin. Both of these substances belong to a group of special beneficial fibers called lignans, and have been shown to have a cholesterol-lowering effect in humans, and to prevent high blood pressure and increase vitamin E supplies in animals. Sesamin has also been found to protect the liver from oxidative damage.

The high copper contains provide relief for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Copper can reduce the pain and swelling of Rheumatoid Arthritis. This is because copper is important in a number of anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant enzyme systems.

Copper also provide structure, strength & elasticity in blood vessels, bones and joints due to its role in the activity of lysyl oxidase, an enzyme needed for the cross-linking of collagen and elastin.

Magnesium, supports vascular & respiratory health:
  • prevent airway spasm in asthma
  • lower high blood pressure
  • prevent trigeminal blood vessel spasm that triggers migraine attacks
  • restore normal sleep patterns in women who experiencing unpleasant symptoms associated with menopause
Calcium, of course helps in preventing osteoporosis, migraine, PMS, and colon cancer.
Much of the calcium found in seed hulls ( about 60%). However, large oart of the calcium esxist in the form of calcium oxalate, which is less absorbable by our body.

Zinc-rich sesama seeds can protect older men from osteoporosis as low intake and low blood levels of zinc is clearly correlated to osteoporosis at hip and spine in a study done on men, that published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

The next day, we do not have any activities anymore as we already finished all on the first day. We went for a beach walk and enjoying the nature of Pangkor Island.

After that, we decided to pay extra RM45 for a ride around the island as it is not included in our student's package. Basically that ride covered three places, which is Fu Ling Gong (福灵公), Satay Factory, and Kota Belanda.

Mini Great Wall of China / 迷你万里长城

Nice features along the way when we going up the hill.

Very fast, it came to the end of our trip. I gave my farewell to my friends as I still need to wait for another 2 hours for my bus to Teluk Intan. I took this chance to take a look around the sea side of Lumut and manage to take some pictures as the buildings that decorating the Lumut Waterfront are very nice .
